Teeth Cleaning

We recommend professional dental teeth cleaning on a regular basis in order to maintain good oral health.

Teeth Cleaning at Aria Dental

Professional cleanings are recommended on a basis that meets the needs of your oral health. Teeth are cleaned using special instruments that remove plaque and tartar above and below the gums. Teeth are then polished to smooth out their surfaces.  Preventive dentistry helps keep your mouth in great shape and prevent issues such as gum disease and cavities.

What Happens at a Teeth Cleaning?

At Aria Dental, our goal is to help you take care of your teeth. Even though you probably brush and floss your teeth regularly, it is still important to visit a dentist twice per year for regular cleaning. This is critical for preventing cavities, root canals, and other serious concerns. What should you expect when you visit our office for teeth cleaning?

Gritty Toothpaste

If you have been to the dentist recently, you have probably felt gritty toothpaste on the surfaces of your teeth. There’s nothing quite like having someone else brush your teeth for you, and this pretty toothpaste is important for removing blemishes that you may have missed during your brushing. We use a special toothpaste that has been specifically designed to remove food debris that might have gotten stuck on your teeth. Trust our team to help you clean your teeth thoroughly.

Remove Plaque and Tartar

After this, we will take a look at your teeth and remove any plaque or tartar we might find. Even though you brush thoroughly, this is not enough to remove all plaque and tartar. Over time, this can build up, eventually causing cavities. We have the right tools and equipment necessary to remove plaque and tartar from your teeth, which can help you prevent serious oral health concerns down the road. We will do everything we can to keep you comfortable as we remove plaque and tartar.

Thorough Flossing

Of course, we will also floss your teeth for you. We understand that it can be very difficult to get in between your teeth, but it is critical to remove food debris from this area. That way, we can prevent bacteria from causing cavities in between your teeth. If you have braces, we can work around them to floss your teeth for you. We have a wide variety of flossing tools we can use, and we will not leave anything behind.

Fluoride Treatment

When you visit our office, we will also give you a thorough fluoride treatment. Fluoride is important because it reinforces the enamel on the surface of your teeth. Your enamel is the white stuff you can see when you look in the mirror. It is important to protect this vital mineral, and fluoride can act as an extra line of defense against potential cavities. If you have questions about fluoride toothpaste you can use, we have recommendations for you. This is critical to preventing serious oral disease down the road.

Possible X-Rays

There is also a chance that you will receive x-rays when you come to our office. In general, we recommend x-rays once per year, but this can change depending on your individual situation. X-rays are important because they allow us to take a look at what is happening underneath the surfaces of your gums. Just because your teeth look fine on the surface doesn’t necessarily mean they are intact underneath. We can take a look at the health of your roots, and we can make sure your teeth are properly aligned. This is particularly important for children who are still growing.

A Thorough Physical Exam

Finally, once we are done cleaning your teeth, the dentist will come and visit you. The dentist will conduct a complete physical exam of your mouth to make sure everything is healthy. Some of the things the dentist will look for include:

  • The dentist will inspect your teeth to look for any signs of cavities.
  • The dentist will also pay close attention to your gums to make sure they are healthy.
  • The dentist will take a look at your tongue to make sure there are no unusual lumps or bumps.
  • The dentist will also examine the inside of your cheeks to look for any potential soft tissue Issues.

This is also your opportunity to ask questions about your diet, your teeth, and your oral health. If you have questions or concerns, we will always take the time to answer them.

Visit Aria Dental for Your Teeth Cleaning

These are a few of the most important tasks that you should expect when you come to our office for teeth cleaning. While you probably brush your teeth twice per day and floss regularly, this is not enough to remove plaque and tartar from your teeth. If you do not visit the dentist regularly, you could develop cavities. At Aria Dental, we want to help you protect your teeth. Contact us today to make an appointment with our team.

Dr Mustafa and his staff are wonderful! He was able to see me right away for major tooth pain that led to the extraction of 3 wisdom teeth, and for a very reasonable price I might add. He walked me thru each step and made me feel comfortable. I was so nervous but his funny and calming spirit really helped me get thru the procedure. Dr Mustafa is not my regular dentist; I was referred to him by my dentist due to scheduling conflict but highly considering switching! I was a new patient but was treated so well that I felt like I had been going for years. Thank you again for helping me with my pain, Dr Mustafa & crew!
